Remcoholic16 April blog switch OK so I decided to switch blog for many reasons. Please go here to read the new entries: http://remcoholic.blogspot.com/ Please add the new one to your bookmarks/favourites if you want and delete this one. I wont transfer the pictures but Ill start with new slideshows on the new one in the near future too. Thanks for always checking this page. I suck at sending emails so hope this makes up for a bit. Remco 15 April Hanami Hanami Hanami Hanami Hanami That was the line up of my social events the last two weeks. For those who are not so familiar with the Hanami concept, it is basically the Japanese custom of sitting underneath a cherry blossom tree and eat lots of brought food and drink lots of alcohol untill the cherry blossoms look like fluffy clouds in the sky. I even organised a lunch Hanami session for my colleagues which all got them out of that paper littered grey workplace and into the park inside the Castle grounds. The park is filled with sakura trees so its quite nice and the view of the shrine and the castle turrets are the ultimate reminder that, yes, I am actually in Japan cause sometimes I just forget and, no, not because of the alcohol consumption. Ive done lots of overhours lately, but purely because I wanted to. I have been working on an english website for the City Hall, and it has been good fun, although now Im getting fed up with it. Its almost done and I will surely start bragging about it when its up and running. Today I'm just really excited about one particular thing.... I bought a camera! A Nikon D80 which I wanted for a looong time so Im really happy. I normally dont care so much for `stuff` but my laptop and camera I hold dear. So Ive been fiddling with it a bit and realised it will take me a while to control this thing the way I want to. But for now Im just really happy with it! Im going shopping for accesories this coming weekend which will be fun too. Whooohoo! 12 April OK, normally I would never do this...but if Sanne smiles at you in that somewhat digital way, you really havent got much choice. You know she will hold it against you for as long as she needs to. So. There we go: 1) Pick up the nearest book of 123 (or more) pages. That would be... let me have a look... Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami 2) Open the book to page 123 and find the fifth sentence. Ok, Ive never read it so this is going to spoil it for me... Aaaaanyway it saaaaays: ...Oh, its the dutch version! (I never realised!).... `That`s what you get when you dont blog often enough` she said. Daar zit wat in, zeg ik. 18 März late night againOK dont really know what to write here but Im still alive and well. I climbed two mountains last sunday which was good fun but I still feel my knee ever since I went skiing two weeks ago. Therefore I thought I better skip kendo today and go for a meal with a few colleagues after work. I mostly comes down to drinking a lot, so I had to quit before it was too late. I got a few emails from friends which were not so good... Anyway I'm just finished with my emails and I had someone over to give her chocolate that was waiting at my place for a while (in Japan you have to return the obligatory chocolates that you get on valentines day on march 14, called White Day) Well its all obligatory, nothing special in case youre wondering. I still have to iron my shirts for tomorrows graduation ceremony at one of my elementary schools. Great. I'm tired so maybe I will get up early and do it tomorrow. Like that's going to happen. I guess its better that doing it now. I'm off to bed.... 12 März fish flying aboutJust walked home after another (too) late night. The river next to my house has been silent for quite a few moths now, but as I was walking home I heard a few splashes in the river. I guess it really is becoming spring again, becasue they're out again. The flying fish are jumping in and out of the water and fly across the river like it's never been winter. Flying fish next to my house; it suddenly reminded me again that I'm in Japan... |
